We may have been busy in the kitchen and estate today preparing for our Autumn High Tea, but today my thoughts were with the ANZACs and particularly my grandmother Diana Wallace (née Guinness) alongside all the other unrecognised heroes like the Land Girls.

This photo reminds me of a story in Diane Bardsley's book about Land Girls. It's not a photo from the book I'm sad to say, but it is fitting for the story of my grandmother and her sister driving a mob of ewes across the Rangitata River at a mere 17 years old.

I hope your ancestors and those that went before us, and all the great losses these huge wars have dealt out is with you today. May we remember them.

A high tea for dogs? 🐾 Yes! We invite you to the first ever (and most likely a little chaotic) Mother's Day High Tea - for Dog Mums (don't worry dog-dads, we'll host yours the week after Father's Day ;) )

Tag a fur-mum who would love this! 👇 Tickets are limited, and may close off early as we will be working on the seating as tables are booked to ensure ample space for everyone.

⚠ Caution: This event is only for dogs comfortable in indoor social settings where other dogs are present in the same room. We will aim to give each table more space than usual, but please don't book a table if your dog would be anxious, unfriendly or would not enjoy this environment.

🗓 A new season of events is announced!
We release the schedule a season ahead of time, sometimes this isn't possible with a last minute event pop up, but usually our next season of events is live on the website for you to see what's on, and have time to organize plans with loved ones and pricing is also confirmed at this time.

💌 Tickets are released to our previous customers:
On the Monday 6 weeks before the event, we send an invitation to those who have been to the previous event I.E If you attended a Mother's Day High Tea, you would be notified first for the next Mother's Day High Tea.

🐾 Tickets are released to Willow's Newsletter subscribers
Those who read Willow's antics every Wednesday are next to be offered tickets in the Wednesday newsletter following ticket release.

📱 24 hours later, we announce on social media, and publish ads.

This timeframe shortens if there is a new event we've added to the schedule due to demand, or if there's no previous clients to email.

To summarise:
1. If you're a previous customer, we value your support and offer you first choice.
2. If you receive our weekly newsletter, we value your loyalty and offer you tickets before the general public.
3. If you follow us on social media, you may hear about the release of tickets next, but the algorithm isn't under our control so we can't guarantee this.

🙏 We hate disappointing folk, and Rebecca knows she's about to have phone calls from now until Mother's Day from caring people trying to treat the women in their loves to a lovely day. But we're just one Homestead, and two women hosting this day and have limited capacity.

If you have never experienced High Tea at Hemswort

If you have never experienced High Tea at Hemsworth Estate, you're in for a treat! Our experience is very different from going into a restaurant or hotel.

Once a month over the cooler seasons, we open our 4th generation historic family home to the public for high tea. There's limited numbers, and a fresh seasonal menu that's different every time.

If warm, friendly hosts, a detailed history, generous helpings and "the real deal" when it comes to antique linens, furniture, china and silverware is your cup of tea, we'd love to welcome you to Hemsworth Estate for our next high tea.

We're currently accepting bookings for our Autumn and Mother's Day High Teas and tickets will open for our other ones 6 weeks before each event.
