Our summer event season has now come to a close ☀️ thank you to everyone who attended an event with us this season.

"Summer" may have been elusive most of the time, that didn't stop us from hosting 14 events in stunning weather.

We launched four new ticketed events for you enjoy: A Christmas display, Summer Camp, Valentine's Day evening, and. Pride Garden Party and returned two of our summer events: Galentine's Day High Tea and our infamous Bridgerton themed Country Ball as well as some wonderful private celebrations.

To us, this closes "the year" of events, and we can't wait to start fresh with our Autumn events. Stay tuned for announcements for everything the autumn girl dreams of, we have a calendar of events coming soon 🍁

Cheers 🥂 Late summer blooms are rampant, and and you're invited to celebrate Pride with a Garden Party in the Rose Garden at Hemsworth Estate

Enjoy a pride-themed High Tea 🍰 unlimited iced tea, coffee and lemonade 🫖 a complimentary floral infused cocktail or mocktail🍾 and a delightful afternoon of live music 🎤 lawn games 🏑 and wandering the gardens 👒

Contrary to Ashburton's conservative rep, the district has shown us as a couple nothing but warm welcomes 🌈 and zero second thoughts (maybe a double take or two though 😉)

Did you see the paper yet? 👀 The @Ashburton Guardian sent out one of their journalists to ask us about our experience as part of the lgbtq+ community here in Ashburton, and she let us babble incessantly about our relationship, our experience as a queer couple, and our family-owned farm turned small hospitality business, it really reminded us why we're here 👇

We love a celebration 🥂 We know that hosting is not as easy as it appears to be 🥵 and that there is always a need for in-person connection 💞

Usually, our themed events aren't that deep - they are simply fun themed events 💃 we leave the deep and meaningful to our guests.

🩵 It's the first event they've felt safe enough to attend alone, since they were diagnosed with PTSD, since they came out, since they became a mum.

❤️ They have a milestone to celebrate - a marriage, an anniversary, a birthday, a friends success.

💛 They are creating new memories to treasure with those they hold dear.

But pride has its own meaning 🏳️‍🏳️‍🌈 and it's as multifaceted as putting a diamond on 💍 There's our history both globally, and here in our own country and each battle these strong people made to get us to the rights, recognition and welcome we have today in the world 🌏 The people living here and now who participate and belong to the community, and then the future of where we are heading....

🙏 We hope by hosting our first Pride event in Mid-Canterbury, we're setting the stage to be steamrolled by other local businesses 🙌 and this one event will turn into a weekend, and then a week (and maybe we'll stop there because that's a whole lot of organizing! 😳)

Come make rhubarb preserves with me 🍯

Come with me as I share the whole process of making Mrs Wheelbarrow's Rhubarb Honey preserves with honey

I completely forgot my Rhubarb plants in the busy event season, so I have two very full plants needing tending to in our vegetable plot.

Once I spent an entire tedious afternoon washing and chopping them into thin slices, we could start the process you see in these photos.

There's a lot more to preserving than I can share in photos. the feeling of the bottom of the spoon "crackling", how to deal with the scary splatters, and what each stage looks like when it's "ready".

This is something it's been fun to gain my own confidence in, and share for the first time in our Summer Camp.
