The following is not included in the ticket price:

• Additional drinks after your first champagne cocktail. These are available at our bar for $10 per drink.
• Horse and Carriage rides for non Earlybird Ticket Holders. $20 per person.
• Dance Lessons in Ashburton or Christchurch for non Earlybird Ticket Holders. $5 per person.
• Your costume, transport, and accomodation. 

While regency dress is encouraged it is not mandatory. We were thrilled with the effort each and every member of the Ton put into their attire for our previous balls, and we can’t wait to see your efforts this year. We are also happy to assist in procuring the appropriate attire. You might find it’s easier than you think!

We couldn’t have you thinking it was exactly the same event as last year! Each year, the Ladies of Hemsworth Estate take inspiration from a moment in the Bridgerton world to theme their ball. This year their theme is The Four Seasons. You can lean into the theme as little or as much as you like. 

Hemsworth Estate is a historic homestead with over an acre of surrounding grounds. The Ball itself is held on the grounds of the estate with a marquee for shelter from the elements. This years ball is in a surprise new location within the estate which will be revealed later in our announcements. 

Please note the ground underfoot is grass and dress accordingly.

Our evening selection of refreshments will include a table piled high with the finest quality meat, fresh produce and cheeses made in Mid-Canterbury from Fern and Feta Grazing Platters. Later in the evening, we will also offer trays of light bites from the Hemsworth Kitchen.

For liquid libations we will offer a selection of sparkling wine, red and white wine, a selection of beers, lemonade, non alcoholic cocktails and a specially made themed champagne cocktail. After your first complimentary cocktail, drinks are $10 each.

Transport to and from Ashburton, Horse and Carriage Rides, Dance Rehearsals and Drink Tabs will all be available for purchase on our website once you have bought your Ball Tickets. 

On the night, we will accept cash and credit cards. 

If you purchase a Drink Tab, this is limited to 5 drinks per person, and is non refundable. 

While we have all been known to have a left foot or two, you needn’t fear about your level of expertise. Those prudent enough to book tickets early will have the benefit of our local dance master’s instruction. 

If you didn’t make the rehearsal, not to worry, we will share videos on our social media sharing the dance lessons virtually. And if you don’t have the time spare to learn, the music is a modern style and we’re sure you will enjoy your evening. We will guide the entire ton through the set dances during the course of the evening as well.

And if dancing is really not your cup of tea, we will have plenty of other entertainment for you to enjoy.

Each early bird ticket purchased will include a complimentary Group Dance Lesson ahead of the ball at Hemsworth Estate with our Dance Master, and Horse and Carriage Ride.

While an appreciation of any regency era entertainment is a fine quality, it is not necessary to enjoy a country ball such as this, however, acquaintances of the Bridgerton Family may discover a few enjoyable hidden gems during the evening. 

We have partnered with some wonderful Modistes to create your attire, please see our social media for some creative costuming ideas.

• The Dress Collective has a few suitable dresses that could be adorned with a ribbon under the bust.
• The Variety Theatre‘s costume collection has many a coattails, waistcoat and shirt for the discerning gentlemen and a select few appropriate gowns for the ladies of the ton. 
• Further afield in Christchurch, Cottage Costumes has a wonderful selection of Officers Uniforms and Regency Evening Gowns and The Malthouse has a wonderful selection for any member of the ton to enjoy. 

Want to arrive in a Horse-Drawn phaeton (open-air carriage)? Rides around the Estate are available for $20 per person (this is complimentary for Early-Bird Ticket Holders. These are bookable online once you have bought your tickets to the ball.

Hemsworth Estate is located at 356 Beach Road East about 5kms from Ashburton. We have an onsite carpark and can happily call a taxi for you if needed. We will also run transport to and from The Hotel Ashburton, and the Regency Motel and Hemsworth Estate for $5 per person, per trip. These are bookable after you have purchased tickets for the ball.
